More student questions regarding exam 2a

These are the last questions I am answering tonight.  Best of luck tomorrow...mf
----------------------------------------------
Q: A job creating several graphics per hour for the company’s presenters to add to their Powerpoint presentations may be high in which core job dimension?

Task identity.
Autonomy.
Task significance.
All the above
None of the above.

Is this a case of autonomy because several graphics are being made, or of task significance because they're doing it for the presenters?

A: It MAY include all the above...
Task Identity: completing a whole piece of work
Task Significance: perception of task as important to others
Autonomy: Independence or freedom in controlling one's actions to complete the task
-------------------------------------------------
Q:
On the Spring 2010 practice test 2a , the answer key is too faded to properly see the multiple choice answers for questions 17 and 18. Would you mind providing the answers to those two questions?

A:
17) E. Relatedness...existence
18) E. A and B, but not C.

Student questions regarding Exam 2a

Q: I cannot find information on general and specific overall traits in the text or slides.

A: General and specific traits are broad terms that include many of the group and individual characteristics noted in the discussions of diversity and individual differences—and personality.

-------------------------------
Q: I know what prototyping is after the review the other day, but I can not find information regarding ethnocentrism or projection.

A: Projection, the assignment of one’s personal attributes to other individuals, is especially likely to occur in interpretation stage.  It can be controlled through a high degree of self-awareness and empathy.

Ethnocentrism is used here in its usual dictionary definition, was mentioned in class as a likely obstacle to successful diversity management.
Q: Also, what should we know for aspects and consequences of employee monitoring, testing, etc.? I read the listed readings, and have reviewed the slide titled "Unintended Consequences of Monitoring and Other Controls. Is that slide all we should know?

A: If you know the general narrative of what’s on the slides, in the readings, and on the session 13 video, that will be fine.

Asg05 - Due MONDAY, 3/26

Individual Blackboard Assignment #5
Due on MONDAY, 3/26

In the "student edition" of the premium content site, go to the Manager's Hot Seat section and complete Scenario #15: Working in Teams: Cross-Functional Dysfunction. Review the profiles, references, scenario, and dossier before you create your report.

In this case, however, do not just answer the question about what Joe Tanney should do to make the implementation a success. Indicate as well what Joe—and probably Joe’s boss, Jeffrey Dillon (see Dossier exhibit 2)—could have done at the outset to prevent or minimize the challenges Rosa and Simon might present to this project. Feel free to include aspects of team size, motivation, mutual responsibility, “virtuality,” etc.

As in previous assignments, you must answer the questions posed during the scenario, include them in your report, and paste the resulting text file into a Blackboard discussion entry.

Please post your assignment by CREATING A THREAD titled Asg05-netid.
